Overall rate trends

Since the third quarter of 2026, trans-Pacific eastbound ocean freight rates have firmed slightly on peak-season restocking demand. Europe lanes remain broadly stable thanks to extra loader sailings. Sellers should lock capacity two to three weeks ahead during the peak window.

Capacity and equipment

40HQ high-cube containers remain tight on selected rotations, and dangerous-goods or battery-enabled cargo face longer booking approvals. LCL consolidation remains relatively stable and suits small-batch replenishment.

Customs and policy watch

US Customs continues to tighten reviews of low-value declarations; vague product descriptions and under-declared values increase hold risk. EU advance-manifest (CFR) requirements are stricter, so bill-of-lading data must be submitted correctly the first time.

Practical advice for sellers

  • Split peak-season shipments into multiple consignments;
  • Use DDP shipping to lock a predictable landed cost and retain entry documents;
  • Allow 7–10 days of buffer for FBA replenishment to avoid stock-outs;
  • Confirm channel and certification requirements for regulated goods early.
